Faith. Was. Ready. From the beginning Emmaus seemed to be behind a step as Faith came out strong. Emmaus fought back leading for parts of the first set however in the end, Faith, rose to the occasion taking the set easily (18-25). Into the second set the two teams were trading points once again for majority of the set. Faith was making Emmaus blockers work as hitters were coming from everywhere. “They had definitely gone back to the drawing board and changed some things. Their hitters were being used much more effectively than when we had played them before, “observed Coach Strautmann. (16-25)
As the third set came around the Emmaus eagles desperately needed a strong start in order to take this final set. However, between a few service receive errors and good digging by Faith such a comeback seemed unlikely. Faith took set 3 by a score of 17-25. “No, I don’t believe that for a second, “responded Coach Strautmann in regards to the first match being a fluke where Emmaus won 3-0. Both games a different team showed up to play. I tip my hat to the players and coaches of Faith as they were obviously prepared for us. “Emmaus would continue their journey to Kansas City the next day for matches against Calvary and Barclay.
