Over the weekend, the Eagles continued to show marked improvement against their opponents in two high energy Regional games.
Poor shooting right from the start on Friday gave Maranatha early control of the game, but Emmaus refused to stop fighting. Each time the Sabercats built a lead, the Eagles would claw their way back in to give themselves a fighting chance. While almost the entire stat line ran even, the difference in the final score of 92-78 came down to shooting percentage as shown by our 40% from the field compared to the opponent's 55%. Leaders of the game were Nacio Dillard with 15 points and 6 assists, and Stevie Horan with 18 points and 4 steals. Coach Edmondson's thoughts after the game were that "We just got off to such a poor start shooting that it put us in a hole we weren't able to climb out of in the end. I was very proud of the effort and fight that our guys displayed tonight and if they continue to compete like they did tonight good things will start to happen soon".
Those good things came the very next day along with warmer weather and a great crowd to the game against Moody. Emmaus came out to a slow start once again due to poor shooting, which allowed Moody to jump to a 12-6 lead in the first nine minutes of the half. The rest of the game was all Emmaus, as the Eagles went on a 46-9 run to finish out the half, putting them 31 points ahead of Moody going into the break. The second half left nothing to chance as Emmaus finished what they started, and continued on to a 87-55 victory over Moody. Game highs came from Horan with 29 points, 6 assists and 5 steals, Brandon Redding with 17 points and 8 rebounds, and Austin Brammer contributing 16 points. Coach Edmondson commented after the victory: "We just want to enjoy this win and build on it as we head into the last week of the regular season and then get into the tournament season where I believe we can do some damage if we play as well as I believe we are capable of playing."
The weekend games set Emmaus at 1-20 overall, and 0-4 in Conference
